Largest markets
By the end of 2016, 34.6 per cent of the world's total wind power capacity was installed in China. In second place, the USA accounted for 16,9 per cent of the world's cumulative capacity.

China is a clear leader in the statistics over new installations with more than 23 GW of new capacity, accounting for just under half of all new installed capacity in 2016

The development since 2001
The global market growth saw a decline of approx. 14 per cent in 2016 compared to the previous year. A total of 54.6 GW was installed, which is lower than the 63.6 GW installed last year.

Looking at the total installed capacity of 486.7 GW by the end of 2016, it was an increase of approx. 12.5 per cent in relation to total capacity in 2015.
