Wind and offshore sectors come together in Copenhagen
Copenhagen Offshore Wind Conference & Exhibition,
26-28 October 2005 in Bella Center Copenhagen, will connect
companies and people from the international offshore and wind
industry committed to making offshore wind
power happen.
Copenhagen Offshore Wind Conference &
Exhibition 2005 will unite the international wind and
offshore sectors for the first time to create
synergies and expand the innovative drive towards costefficient
offshore wind power plants.
More than 1,000 international participants and
exhibitors are expected to network and take part in
shaping the development of offshore wind. The
presence of major companies and leading policy
makers will help bring market oriented and
sustainable solutions to the challenges of going
offshore.
The conference will zoom in on the latest
experiences within technology, business and policy. The
event will link applied solutions and know-how with
state-of-the-art technology and extract bestpractice
policies. Additional hands-on experiences will be
provided through visits to the world’s
two largest operating offshore wind farms, Horns
Rev and Nysted.
“It will be the first conference of its kind that
connects the offshore sector with the wind sector in
order to find new business models and sustainable
solutions for future offshore wind power plants,”
says Bjarne Lundager Jensen, managing director of
the Danish Wind Industry Association.
As early as 2008, the capacity of offshore wind
power is expected to multiply by 20 to approx.
10,000 MW. The global offshore capacity is
currently 530 MW – 90% are installed in Denmark or
by Danish producers.
“Danish companies form the centre of a global
knowledge and competence network when it comes
to construction and installation of wind power
plants at sea. The Danish expertise makes
Copenhagen an obvious location for an international
offshore wind event,” says Bjarne Lundager
Jensen.
“The vision is to make Denmark the Wind Power Hub
as Silicon Valley is the centre of IT
and Houston the centre of offshore oil and
gas.”
The Copenhagen Offshore Wind Conference and
Exhibition 2005 is organised by the Danish Wind
Industry Association, the Confederation of Danish
Industries, the Danish Energy Authority, the
Danish Offshore Industry, and the Danish Society
for Wind Energy. The organizers expect to repeat
the event every second year.
