Acidification of the environment
Apart from emission of greenhouse gases the production of energy leads to the emission of a range of different substances e.g. S02, N0x and NH3 causing acidification of the environment and eutrophying. With the current production composition and level the fertiliser effect of nitrogen fall-outs from the air reach an extent to which tolerate-border for almost 70 %s of the sensitive ecosystems in Denmark is crossed. In addition there are considerable health effects.
The windmills saved nature for the following discharges of acidifying materials in 2006

Note that for some types of renewable energy the emission of N0x and S02 is also marked.
This especially concerns garbage and biogas.
