Environmental impact
The use of fossil fuels in the energy sector causes emission of a range of greenhouse gases and airpollutants. Global warming is thought to be a consequence of the emission of greenhouse gases while airpollutants among other factors acidify the environment and have a negative impact on the human health.
The production of energy in Denmark is still to a considerable extent based on fossil fuels, primarily coal. This causes massive emissions, especially of CO2. Since windpower in the energy production doesn't result in emissions to the air, there is a great environmental benefit in using this kind of technology.
The following pages show some of the benefits gained last year from using windpower in the Danish production of electricity.
