Turbine Stamps
From today, Four Danish turbines will stand side by side with the Queen of Denmark.
The National Danish Postal Service, Post Danmark, launches a new stamp collection with turbines.
The images on the four stamps are The Askov turbine (1891), The Gedser turbine (1957), Turbines from Bogø (1989) and the offshore farm, Middelgrunden (2000).
The four stamps focus on the historic perspective of the Danish wind industry.
The purpose of the stamps is to emphasize that Denmark through many years has been and still is a leading country, when it comes to the development and production of turbines.
“We try to focus on many aspects in our stamp collection, and since we never have printed anything with wind power before, it was an obvious choice. They also represent Post Danmark's contribution to the Year of Industrial Culture 2007,”says Inger Winther, Stamp Coordinator at Post Denmark.
The artist Bertil Skov Jørgensen has drawn the four turbines. Martin Mörck is the engraver.
